Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from our first session?

During the initial appointment, it is my goal to get a better understanding of what you’d like to accomplish in working together. We will discuss topics such as food preferences, diet history, and what a typical day looks like for you, along with any other information you feel is valuable for getting to know you. We will also begin to develop the framework for meeting your goals.

Do I need to do anything before our first session?

New patient paperwork will be emailed to you prior to our appointment from a HIPAA-compliant platform called Healthie.

What's the difference between a dietitian and nutritionist?

This varies based on state, but in Texas, anyone can refer to themselves as a “nutritionist” without any specific training or education. Registered dietitians are the experts in food and nutrition because we are required to earn a minimum 4-year degree from an accredited college, complete 1,200 hours of supervised practice, pass a registration exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, and complete continuing education in order to maintain our credentials.

How do I pay for appointments? Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance as a form of payment, but I’d be happy to provide you with a coded receipt for insurance reimbursement. Checks and credit/debit cards are accepted and processed via my practice management program.

How often will we meet?

We’ll determine the frequency of appointments together based on your individual needs and goals, but most clients prefer to begin with weekly appointments.

What if I don't have an eating disorder diagnosis?

If something about your eating and relationship with food feels stressful or difficult, I'm here to help. Seeing a dietitian can help you reconnect with your body, unlearn diet culture-based beliefs, and feel more like yourself again. If you'd like to share about your concerns and find out about how I can support you, please email me at info@bodyofknowledgenutrition.com for more personalized information.
